Artist Statement
Every story begins with wonder. My practice is grounded in the belief that wonder is born from paying attention—from slowing down, looking closely, and remaining open to the stories that surround us every day.
Working across photography and mixed media, I create layered images and objects that explore memory, identity, culture, and human connection. Photography allows me to observe and witness the world, while mixed media expands those observations into tactile, symbolic narratives that unfold through light and shadow, materiality, and imagination. Drawing inspiration from folklore, travel, portraiture, and the quiet moments of everyday life, I seek to reveal the extraordinary within the ordinary.
Underlying my work is a sense of wonder about and for the world. I am fascinated by the stories that connect us and the layers of meaning that emerge when we pause to look more closely. My practice explores the intersections of personal and collective memory, lived experience, and unconscious archetypes, inviting viewers to discover their own connections within each work.
My background in community arts, performance, education, and cultural anthropology has shaped my belief that art is a powerful vehicle for storytelling, empathy, and cultural exchange. Through my work, I hope to cultivate curiosity and reflection, encouraging viewers to embrace wonder as a way of engaging more deeply with themselves, with others, and with the world around them.
